Rambling Monday!

Hey there! I decided I should give myself a little break from studying and blog a little. This usually works in my favour as I get all excited when I blog and it helps getting me back to concentrating on school stuff.

I had a relative dull weekend this weekend due to a back sprain which took off on Friday. Ughh I never knew back pain could be this painful. I basically stayed at home with my family on Friday and spent Saturday night in with my boyfriend watching a movie which I’ll talk about in a second. We needed a night in since I’m busy most of the time and it’s rare that we get to spend a night in these days.

We watched The Call which stars Halle Berry and it’s such a good movie. It’s a thriller about this 911 responder who helps a girl who has been kidnapped…over the phone. It was one of those films where you can’t look away even for a second. I loved it even though I was a bit scared at times. It’s not scary though, I’m just a silly person who’s terrified of everything.

I should be posting more this week, a mini-collaboration, information about an upcoming event I will be attending, all that fun stuff.

Other than that, my boyfriend and I got hooked on the game 2048 which I suggest you download NOW because it’s awesome. I’ve been loving the song Stolen Dance by Milky Chance (how cool is that name?) which has reggae and folk influences. I’ll link it below and have a listen. Remember when I used to link a song after every post? If you do, you’re awesome, because it means you’ve been around for a while.

Have an awesome week,

Claire

Series-ly!

As I’ve said countless of times before, I’m a series junkie. I won’t go into how much I love curling up in bed and watching a good TV show, you know that. I did a post a year ago or so about my top shows and it hit me recently that I need to update the list and add even more shows. You also know that I like mixing it up a little and so instead of one long list, I’m going for a couple of mini-lists. I won’t go into details about the shows, just general stuff I like or dislike.

The Number Ones

Breaking Bad

Friends

I loved the two so much. They’re very different but both are great work. Breaking Bad is just such an intelligent show. The creator really did bring about a work of art. Friends is Friends. It’s timeless and always funny.

The Now-Finished

Gossip Girl

How I Met Your Mother

Desperate Housewives

One Tree Hill

Unfortunately I had to endure these amazing shows coming to an end. Desperate Housewives is my favourite out of the four. Gossip Girl was also the first show I watched from Pilot to end, so it has a special place in my heart too. HIMYM is just awesome. One Tree Hill was the first show I binged watched.

The Oldies

Gilmore Girls

Sex and The City

X-Files

Un Paso Adelante

These bring back so many memories just because I was so young when I watched them. I was a Gilmore Girls addict and I remember the joy of finding whole episodes on YouTube and experiencing the whole YouTube phenomena when it all started. Un Paso Adelante is a Spanish show I used to watch in Italian (I’m sure it’s what got me my O’Level, really) which I used to watch after school with my mum and then go to school and discuss it with all the other girls. It was a Fame type of show only modern. Think Glee with less Gay-drama and more Spanish passion!

The Disappointing Ones

Pretty Little Liars

Revenge

The Vampire Diaries

I won’t comment on these. I still watch all 3 but they had so much more potential and it’s sometimes a struggle to watch. Sad but true.

The Ones with Awesome Plots Throughout

Grey’s Anatomy

Scandal

Suits

These are the good ones. The ones I love because of how good they always are. I admire writers who manage to go on and on and still write incredible stories.

Rambling Monday | Post Number Two

Hey there! It’s Monday again and that means it’s Rambling Monday time! I had a fun filled weekend but now it’s back to the book since it’s almost 2 months until this scholastic year is over…yes…if you’re a student, start freaking out in 5…4…3…oh who am I kidding…PANIC!

But before we panic, let’s all stop for a moment and enjoy my first ramble…

You’re welcome! That happened yesterday at the MTV Movie Awards. I love how MTV judge movies and all that given their choice of content for their shows, but anyway. The awards give out awards to the usual Best Film, Best Actor, etc but then they also give really weird ones like Best Kiss or  Best Shirtless Performance. This is what Mr.Efron above won and as a treat to all of us, he took off his shirt as his acceptance speech. I’ve always had a bit of a crush on Zac Efron, a crush which goes back to the High School Musical days. Yes, I was an HSM teen and I’m not ashamed to say so. He’s surely grown out from his sweetheart stage and I must say, I approve.

My next ramble is basically a mini-summary of what I did this weekend…I went camping. If you remember I posted a post a few months ago where I spoke about a camping trip we had and how much I enjoyed it. Well, the time came for a second trip and I loved it even more. I needed 48 hours in the sun, SWIMMING, eating and drinking and just laughing with my friends. I really, really needed that. Yes, the sea was cold but oh so beautiful. The more time I experience these little things the more blessed I feel to be living on such a beautiful island.

I decided to wear my favourite fedora just because it was windy and I didn’t feel like having to keep pulling my hair off my face. I was too busy relaxing, you see, that would have been too much work.

And the final ramble is more of a review, I found a YouTube channel last week and I’ve been loving it so much. It’s called TheSoundYouNeed and it’s full of remixed lounge beats. I say remixed because you get jazz influence mixed with tech stuff or hip-hop stuff and it’s just awesome. I’m really into jazz at the moment so this is perfect. It’s the sort of music that makes me think of chill Summer days, so if you like that sort of music, click the name ( I linked the channel) and have a listen.

Have a great week,

“I still stuff myself sick…then go buy an ice-cream”

You know you’ve been banging on your keyboard and sifting through endless tabs of scholarly articles for too long when you start adding unnecessary exclamation marks to everything and your fingers start moving at rapid speed…looking for links and adding them to people’s posts then typing something back…AAAAA….I’ve had too much coffee!

It’s that time of year. It’s less than 2 months away and another scholastic year is over. I’m always torn at this time of year. I want and most definitely need a break yet at the same time I love school. I’m a sucker for routine. Being a bit of a control freak, I feel comfortable with a steady time table. In Summer everything is unplanned, spontaneous and I’m not sure if I like that.

Of course I can’t wait to just lie on a sun-faded towel at Ghajn Tuffieha sipping Cisk Chill at nine in the morning and pretending to be Spanish when people give us weird looks for drinking beer so early. I can’t wait to eat one ftira after the other until I’m so full that all the sausages I bought for the BBQ in the evening will end up being thrown out. Ok, that never happens…I still stuff myself sick…then go buy an ice-cream. I can’t wait to get tan, so tan that I can go out without any make-up and not scare anyone to death.

Yes, I’m going to say it, I can’t wait for Summer. Until then it’s coffee, neck pain and bags of concealers to cover the bags under my eyes.

Rambling Monday | Post Number One

Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever Rambling MondayThat’s to be read in a deep and exciting voice, OK?

Joking aside, this is in fact the first ever week where I will try to stick to a schedule, as I explained last week in this post. I have a few things on my mind, obviously since I sat down to study. It’s so interesting that mind gets all this inspiration and motivation to write the moment my studying becomes dull and boring.

Ramble 1 – RIVER ISLAND IS COMING TO MALTA!!!

I’m excited, can you tell? I love this brand so much, although I must admit that I was sort of disappointed when I went to the London store in February. I seem to find more stuff online then I do at the stores, which is weird since it’s practically the same thing. But anyway, that means no longer waiting for “Free Shipping” days or having to look for stuff on Asos, I can now walk to the store, conveniently located at the same shopping mall where I work. YAY

Ramble 2 – Just because I didn’t post a photo…

…it doesn’t mean a thing. I sort of cut back on putting everything on Facebook and Instagram in 2014. I mean I still post outfits and the occasional weekend snaps, but I have stopped posting a photo of every single thing I do on Facebook. I’m becoming more private I guess, or growing up, or both. The funny thing is though, people seem to expect me to put a photo up. Has this ever happened to any of you? You’re talking to someone about a place you ate at or a party you attended and they go all “Oh, you were there? I didn’t see anything on Facebook…” Seriously? Are we becoming that dependant on Facebook…or are we all becoming too nosy for our own good? Ma nafx!

Ramble 3 – My newfound love for..

SUITS! Yes, I have started a new series. With How I Met Your Mother ending (weep!), having gone through both seasons of House of Cards and having most of my shows going on Summer break, I decided to start watching the show. It’s about 2 lawyers and their quest to look extremely gorgeous at every second of the episode. Okay, it’s not really about that, it’s a sort of law drama similar to how White Collar is an FBI show, with its lead guys being a genius associate to a senior partner in a law firm. I’m nearly done with the first season (it’s 13 episodes…don’t judge!) and I can’t wait to watch the rest.

So what do you think of my rambling Monday? Do you absolutely love River Island? Are you annoyed with people stalking your every move? Have you watched suits? Leave a comment if you want to tell me your opinion on any of my rambles!

Happy Monday!

What’s In My Bag?

I love reading these type of posts. It’s basically a look into someone’s bag. Simple. Here’s what’s in mine…

DSCF5381DSCF5383DSCF5384

I used that bag today because I was running around Uni, carrying my laptop and notes and everything and felt like wearing a backpack, so out comes my trusty aztec print bag. As you can see I love purple! I didn’t realise how many stuff in that colour I carry around with me. So let’s start.

In the first picture are all the things that I carry around with me all the time. I have two cosmetic bags, one with stuff like wet-wipes and deodorant and all that which I’m sure you don’t care to see and the other with lipsticks and stuff which I’ll talk about in a second.

I have a slight diary addiction, yes. As you can see I have a huge diary where I write anything and everything and then I have a mini ideas notepad. Then there’s my purse, which is actually my Mum’s. See she’s one of those purse and bags lover which means I get to have plenty of hand me downs! Go Mummy! There’s my Kindle which is without a doubt the best thing I’ve ever bought. My inhalers are there. I got asthma just recently and although it’s not too bad, I do have to carry those with me everywhere I go just in case.  There’s my trusty Body Shop White Musk Body Spray and finally a bottle of water. I’m one of those people who have to carry water with me everywhere I go.

Third picture is of the mini black pouch and its contents. It’s basically always with me. I have a few hairpins, another diary, lipsticks, Vaseline, a mirror and some change. I find it very useful to not have my lipsticks and hairpins running around in my bags just because I use a different bag almost everyday and it saves me having to rummage through my bags looking for that one lipstick.

And that’s it! I carry my phone and iPad and pencil case with me but that’s mostly when I’m at school and my phone is never in my bag anyway so I didn’t include them.

Happy Friday!

Claire

Weird is awesome.

That thing that blinks before you write something…what’s it called? It’s the cursor I know, but I bet it’s called something specific. Yes, I thought of that because it blinked for a while before I started writing. I’m sort of suffering from writer’s block at this very second and it’s my fault because I’m sort of making myself write and that’s not the way my brain works. I write best when I’m not thinking about it, when I absolutely have no time to write. Or when I’m driving. Yes, I’m one of those persons who get ideas when driving. I usually end up stoping at the side of a road to write down a point. Or repeat it,loudly, over and over to make sure I don’t forget. I do of course, forget plenty of ideas because I can’t always stop.

I’m weird like that, I know. But who isn’t weird in his/her own way. It’s what makes us all unique I guess, all different. It’s sad that nowadays people seem to not want to embrace this and often try and mould themselves into whatever they think they should be. These weird characteristics are turned into insecurities. Not only do we not embrace the unique features in ourselves but we turn them into fears and try and fight them. And when others who couldn’t care less embrace these elements, yeah, we label them weird, but not weird…weird, in that tone.

It’s a vicious circle I guess, but I don’t like it, I like weird. Weird is awesome, we should all be weird.

I don’t know what to call this post it’s so boring…but read on…please? | Updates

Hey there! So March’s over. I feel as though it was a mish-mash of weekdays where I worked too hard on Uni stuff and weekends where I ate too much and did anything but study. It was a good balance in that I managed to study and have some fun. It was generally quite a stressful month in that I had a lot of things going on but it’s over now and I’m moving on.  I made it and here we are, April. I managed to pull one off my friends today yet I haven’t had a joke played on me, yet.

Since it’s April and exams are just two months away I’ve decided to add unnecessary pressure on myself and try to come up with a regular timetable for This and That. Yes, as much as I love being random and all that, I feel as though I need more structure as the blog (and I) grow. I’m still unsure as to the exact details of what I’ll be writing when but I’m thinking of having a Rambling Monday where I just go on and on about what ever’s in my head, classic This and That, if you want to call it that. Wednesday will probably either be a fashion related post or a general review post of anything I’m liking and Friday I still have no clue. This might not work out. I might not like it or you might not like it. Who knows right? But I think it’s an important step I must take. Don’t worry though, This and That will still retain that randomness I started out with, it’s just after 3 years, I think I need more structure.

Boring post today eh? I know and I’m sorry but an update is important and I had to do this.
