Catrice Made To Stay Smoothing Lip Polish 050 | Review

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this product for a while now, so finally here goes.

I’ll start off with some pictures so you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I’ll start off with a little disclaimer. I got this for free in a goodie bag. Had I been shopping I would have probably strayed away. Reason being, I hate lip glosses with a passion. I hate the texture, I hate the glossy look…I hate it all. So when I saw this in my goodie bag I thought this would be another gloss I’ll never wear. But then I read the description: Discover the triple advantage: The colour of a lipstick, the longevity of a stain and the shiny finish of a lip gloss. Hmm…interesting.

So I tried it on. There I went applying the polish using the slightly flexible doe shaped applicator. Fact number one: It really is a polish. I can’t explain what this is but the texture does feel like I imagine a polish feels like. Fact two: It’s shiny but not glossy. That’s a huge thing for me. I find glossy to be too heavy and sticky for my taste. Shiny on the other hand, I can work with. Fact three: It dries up after a few minutes and you feel like you’re wearing nothing.

So after a few minutes of wearing it, I liked it. I then wanted to see what would happen after a few hours. The tube claims to give 8 hours of wear. And so I went about my day, I ate, drank, went out in the wind and came back home 8 hours later, looked in the mirror and my lips were still smooth and full of colour. I’ll admit, the shine wore off, which didn’t bother me, but the stain…lasted more than 8 hours! Can you believe that? It was actually a struggle taking it off. Now you might think that’s a tad annoying, but for someone who’s lazy like me and hates re-applying…it’s perfect.

So bottom line : I love this product. It was made with me in mind, I’m sure. I haven’t looked at the other colours so I can’t say what they’re like, but if you have, please share.

Happy Monday,

Not a Review: The Book Thief

Hey everyone! So today I was planning a review post about make-up though I’m at my boyfriend’s without my camera or the product I wanted to review so I got to thinking and I’ve decided to do a ‘not a review’ post. I did this a while back where basically I take a movie and comment on anything but the story, you can use IMDB.com for that.

We watched The Book Thief on Friday and it was incredible. Great story, great cinematography and awesome pieces of clothes. Yes you heard right, I loved clothes from Nazi Germany in the World War II. I didn’t realise until half way through the movie that every now and then I was commenting on a satchel or a pair of shoes or even their hair. Before you think I’m a weirdo, let me show you what I mean. The_Book_Thief_1 Book Thief liesel-and-rudy the-book-thief

Image 1 – Can you guess what I’m going to comment about? The coat! You probably know what a sucker for coats I am. The shade of this one is beautiful and the little detail at the top is amazing. She wears it throughout the movie and I don’t blame her, I would wear a coat that beautiful all the time too. (She was also very poor…but that’s another thing)

Image 2 – The shoes. A cross between boots and brogues make this pair perfect. Again the shade, like the coat is lovely and I can easily see myself wearing something like that. The socks coming out the top are in my opinion, a perfect touch.

Image 3 – RUDY. He’s the boy. This boy is super cute and his scenes are my favourite throughout. He’s cheeky and witty and very sweet. He’s also very, very well dressed. He goes to school in these sort of jackets, looking smart and polished, which makes him even more likeable. I wish guys would wear more tailored jackets. I mean I have never seen guys dressed like this at Uni. Why? It sure beats wearing those football gear tops which hurt my eyes every single time. A little class never hurt anyone, except guys my age, I guess. (Sorry, boys!)

Image 4 –  Last image includes a simple blouse. She wears blouses throughout the film and I just love the look. It’s paired with different jumpers and she looks innocent yet quite preppy at the same time. The little red detailing is simply gorgeous.

I’m sure there are tons of other great examples, though I’ll stick with these 4 as they’re my favourite. I hope you enjoyed this post even though it’s a bit different. Tell me what you think in the comments section so I’ll know.

Happy Sunday!

Ain’t it fun…living in the real world?

NO! I don’t have time to do anything. The real world, or adulthood as some people like to call it, is a royal pain.

OK, moaning over. I was tempted to do a product review today of a lip product I’ve been loving but to heck with that, I’m going to go good old This and That on you. I love doing reviews and fashion posts, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes, going back to basics feels too good.

So, putting my random hat on, let’s go.

It’s Spring tomorrow! Yes, my season is over. We had a weird Winter this year and I’m loving days in the sun, when I have time, so maybe I won’t be too sad that Winter’s over. I know, you’re all rejoicing that you don’t have to hear me be happy about the rain. It also means that 1/4 of the year is almost over. Scary.Stuff.

It also means that most series will be nearing their end soon. Some, like How I Met Your Mother have only a couple of episodes left, ever! What do you think…will the mother be killed off? I thought so. The hints we’re getting indicate something of the sort though more recently I can’t seem to actually believe that they’re going to make Ted suffer that much. I guess we’ll have to wait and see (and inevitably, shed a tear).

I’m back to reading a bit too, which is always awesome. I do sometimes sleep with my Kindle in hand because I’ll be that tired and my bed would be that warm, but at least I’m trying. I finished yet another Lesley Pearse book. I can never get enough of this amazing author. I love how all the stories make you love the characters and feel as though you know them really well. The next book I’ll be reading is a thriller, which a friend suggested. Let’s hope I’ll be able to sleep.

That’s it I think! I’ll be posting the product review sometime this (or next since it’s Thursday already) week.

Have a good evening,

Claire

Catrice Crushed Crystals | Product Review

I received this nail polish as part of my goodie bag when I went to the Catrice Event a few weeks back and tried it out last week and I’ve been getting so many comments about it ever since that I thought I’d review it here. Let me start by telling you that I am the clumsiest, most messy person when it comes to doing my nails. I manage to get polish everywhere and my fingers are usually a mess. Well, I didn’t make a mess with this nail polish. It’s from the Crushed Crystals range which they just launched. It’s heavy on the glitter and little specs. I thought it would be super glittery but it’s really not. It’s got a lovely texture rather than actually glitter and it dries up beautifully. It almost looks like I have gel nails on, which I don’t. It’s also quick drying which is perfect for me because it means I make less of a mess and it doesn’t chip. I put no top coat on and it’s lasted a good week without it chipping. Awesome, right? It does feel a bit rough without a top coat because of it being super thick and full of granules, but who cares? It’s not like people are touching my nails!

I have the shade 05 Stardust which is a sort of silvery, space grey-ish shade. They have other lovely shades in this range and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Check out the Catrice Facebook page here for more information.

It rained. I smiled.

I’m back to the whole super busy thing so my posts have been either super quick or super short. I honestly have no clue where 24 hours are going…but anyway. Last Sunday I was supposed to have something with my dance crew (I do hip-hop..planning a post about all this soon) but it got cancelled and at the spur of the moment me, my boyfriend and some friends decided to go out for lunch. Of course, as you know I love the rain so I was happy dressing up and going outside. I layered quite a lot of stuff because it was quite cold. I also took selfies. So I thought I’d share what I wore since I rarely do such posts and they’re just so effortless. Enjoy!

P.S Sorry for the poor lighting and photo quality but I was rushing about as I was late and had no time to actually get my good camera out.

Ladies and Gentlemen…The Tux!

I shared a picture yesterday on my Facebook page of Angelina Jolie in a tuxedo. I’ve been getting likes on the photo since I put it up and after looking around online a bit I realised there are some really pretty way you can wear a tux. Of course, I did look at celebrities and they’re of course in a league of their own, but still, I love the look. It’s sexy, stylish yet super elegant. It also means you can go heavy on the lips for instance, to balance out the rather masculine look. Who doesn’t love an excuse to wear a bold lip? I wear a lot of blazers and shirts yet I haven’t had the courage to wear a bow tie or a tie yet. What do you think? Do you love the tux on women?

Janelle Monae is known for her love of the look...and with good reason. She looks effortlessly cool and elegant.

Pharrell's wife looks divine! He should have let her style him!

Rihanna has to be different, of course! I don't think the look translates well on us mere mortals, but I love it just the same. Her hair was gorgeous here.

This is the picture I shared. Angie looks great although I'm not really sure about the open shirt. The pants are amazing though.

This is something I'd wear for sure. I love the detail in the jacket and her clutch gives it a girly touch which complements the look perfectly.

Madonna! How cool is that cane? I think her jacket is incredible and I love that she wore the hat. I would choose a straighter leg but that's because I don't have never ending pins like this pretty lady!

What happened Bruno?

So you know Bruno Mars, right? The guy who rose to fame by making every girl believe that there is hope and guys who say you’re…and I quote…”amazing, just the way you are”. Remember him? Guys used the video to earn bonus points and girls were finally happy that a song without the word ass or anything similar had been released. The world loved Bruno. He kept it up with his next song When I Was Your Man. His sweet, sweet voice made us sad that he gave up on his girl and again we all loved him. Now he’s got a new album and somehow, Bruno Mars turned into a magician. Why you ask? Well let me explain…

…whilst still singing in the same sweet and manly yet sensitive voice, singing ballads with instruments which make us believe we’re listening to the sweet old melodies of our dear Bruno, the lyrics of the songs have changed drastically. Now I’m not really one to be all bitter because of the content of the song and that’s not really what I’m saying. My point is that Bruno Mars (or the people who produce his music) managed to keep the sound completely the same, you pick up it’s Bruno instantly, but they have put in stuff that you’d associate with artists like Drake, Robin Thicke, you know all the ones who release songs you won’t want your little children singing along to.

If you haven’t realised this already, have a listen to the two songs I have linked and tell me if my conclusions are right or wrong. I for one fell for the trap and only recently realised this change in dear old sweet Mr.Mars.
